Why Schedule a Newborn Photography Session? https://www.butterfliesofhopephotography.com/blog/2019/2/why-schedule-a-newborn-photography-session Why should you schedule a Newborn Photography Session?

I can honestly say it is so hard to remember all the little details of my babies when they were newborns.  At that time ( and now I am giving away my age) in my life, having a newborn session was nothing like it is today!  First of all, we just had a shot taken in the hospital in the hospital gown...nothing special..just a straight on shot.  Then, around three months I would take them to the Sears photo studio.  It cost a bunch of money to get a bunch of prints of the same pose...Like what in the world am I supposed to do with all of those wallets..lol

Times have changed and oh how I wish I would have known what I know now.  My kids are 22, 19 and 16.  I can't believe that they are grown already!  I can hardly remember them as babies.

When a baby is born there are so many little characteristics that only last a short time..and by short time, I mean just weeks or so.  The peach fuzz on babies ears and back, the wrinkled toes, the peeling skin, those tiny little fingers and super thin nails.  If you wait too long, you miss all of this newborn goodness!

A newborn photo session captures it all!  These are memories that you will forever cherish. It's awesome to have the digital images to save as a keepsake.  I also encourage printing some of your favorites to showcase in your home.  I also love the coffee table books and albums.  My family and friends love looking at my albums when they come to visit!  I just wish I had these of my children when they were babies!!

What are you waiting for, get your newborn session booked:)

xo,

Heather

Newborn Photography - When should I schedule my Newborn Photo Session? https://www.butterfliesofhopephotography.com/blog/2019/2/newborn-photography---when-and-why-should-i-schedule-newborn-photos Finding out that you are going to have a baby is such an exciting time in life!  There are so many changes that will be happening. There will be lots of things to learn and do to prepare.  How to take care of yourself with a growing being inside of you...all of the doctor appointments to watch your little nugget grow... so much anticipation to meet the baby.... will it be a girl or a boy, what will he or she look like... And the list goes on.

One thing that tends to slip the minds of new mommies to be... planning for Newborn Photography.

When should your Newborn Photo Session be booked?

It is important NOT to WAIT until BABY is BORN!  Photographer's tend to have busy schedules and newborn photo sessions take more time than a regular photo session.  For that reason, a Newborn Photographer may only schedule a certain number of Newborn sessions per month.  If you wait until the baby is born, you may not be able to get in to see the photographer in time to capture those precious sleepy poses.

A newborn session ideally should be done in the first 3 weeks from birth.  I like doing them around 10 - 14 days.  I find that the babies do very well at that time. Their skin seems to be less splotchy and they tend to have adjusted some to their feedings.  The parents are also a little more comfortable with baby by this time.

So, when should the Newborn Session be Scheduled?  It is best to schedule around the Second Trimester.

I hold the baby's photo session spot by adding the due date to my calendar. Once baby arrives, we set the exact date and time for the session.

I will be posting more information on Newborn Photo Sessions soon to include:

Why should I schedule a Newborn Session.

How to choose a Newborn Photographer.

How to prepare for the session and more!!

Welcome to My Blog!! https://www.butterfliesofhopephotography.com/blog/2019/1/learn-with-heather-photographer-and-photography-educator Hello!

Welcome to my blog!

I would like to share with you all how Butterflies of Hope Photography by Heather, LLC came to light!

A little about me:

I am a wife to my high school sweetheart, Ron and we are celebrating 25 years of marriage this year!  We have 3 amazing children, Whitney 22, Katelyn 19, and Lane 16.  I graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1994 and worked full-time as a RN for 21 years.

My love photography began when I was a teenager. Always snapping photos and running my film to the nearest developer.  I could not wait to get the photos back to see what I had captured through the lens.  After my children were born, my love for photography grew.  I could not take enough photos of them.  Later, I began scrapbooking with my best friends and became obsessed with trying to learn everything I could to improve my photography.

I began shooting at sporting events, family events and really anywhere we went.  I fell in love with documenting our daily lives.

People began asking me to take photos for different events and one thing lead to another. Before I knew it, I was a full time RN and photographer.  Life was crazy busy, but I loved it!

A life changing event:

On May 29, 2014, my world was rocked.  My sister, Lauryn, suddenly passed away from a myocardial tunnel at the young age of 38.  She left behind 4 children ages 2 - 18 years old.  It was then that I realized how short and unpredictable life is. I knew that I wanted to follow my passion of photography and capture memories that my clients would forever cherish.  There is nothing more important than family.  If I would not have captured my niece being born or many of those events that happened in her first two years with her mom, she would not be able to visually see the connection between her and her mom. In the photos you can see her moms love for her as she laid eyes on her the very first time.  Photos are magical and can contain stories and bring back sweet memories to last a lifetime.

I am now a full time photographer, capturing memories to last a lifetime!

Love,

Heather
